Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, expressed concern today regarding the potential for a Third World War. His comments were a response to criticism from former U.S. President Donald Trump directed at Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Addressing Trump’s remarks about Putin “playing with fire” and the “serious negative consequences” that could befall Russia, Medvedev tweeted in English on X, stating, “There is only one truly terrible thing… World War III. I hope Trump understands this!”
Earlier today, Trump stated on his Truth Social platform that, “What Vladimir Putin doesn’t realize is that if it weren’t for me, serious negative events would have already occurred for Russia, and I mean that completely… He is playing with fire!”
These latest remarks from Trump follow some of the most significant drone and missile strikes on Ukraine since the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion in early 2022.
