Under the guidance and blessing of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced a ministerial reshuffle in the federal government yesterday.
Appointments
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid stated: “Brothers and sisters… following the endorsement by my brother, the President of the UAE, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Ahmed Al Sayegh as the new Minister of Health for the UAE… We thank Abdul Rahman Al Owais for his dedicated service in the Ministry of Health over the past years, during which he oversaw continuous improvements in the federal healthcare system… Abdul Rahman Al Owais will continue to serve in the UAE government as the Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs… We wish them both success in their governmental duties… and send best wishes to all national teams in the United Arab Emirates.”
The ministerial reshuffle includes the appointment of Ahmed bin Ali Mohammed Al Sayegh as the Minister of Health and Prevention, with Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Owais remaining in his role as Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs.

Ahmed bin Ali Mohammed Al Sayegh served as Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since September 2018, focusing on economic and trade affairs. His efforts were directed towards developing and implementing diversification plans for the UAE’s economy, managing the nation’s engagements with Asian countries and the Commonwealth of Independent States, and enhancing strategic partnerships and investment opportunities.
Additionally, he holds several other significant positions, including serving as a board member and executive committee member of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), a board member of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), and the Vice Chairman of the Emirates Nature-WWF and Co-Chairman of the UAE-UK Business Council.
Roles Across Sectors
Previously, Al Sayegh has held many key positions within various sectors of the UAE government, including Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), Chairman of Aldar Properties, and Chairman of Masdar. He has also served as a board member of Etihad Airways and Mubadala Group, and was Vice Chairman of First Gulf Bank.
Al Sayegh has also held senior positions in ADNOC and Abu Dhabi Investment Authority. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Lewis & Clark College in the United States.
