Mohammed Al Gergawi: We Learned from Mohammed Bin Rashid That Leadership Is a Responsibility, Not a Position

His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, the Executive Office Director for His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and head of the Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Leadership Development, emphasized that leadership in the UAE is a responsibility rather than just a position. It serves as a guiding beacon that directs the entire city. He noted that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, has established a clear vision centered on people, aiming to transform Dubai into the world’s best city.

This statement was made during His Excellency Al Gergawi’s address at the opening of the “Mohammed bin Rashid Leaders Forum,” which took place at the Dubai World Trade Center under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, and witnessed the participation of over 1,000 leadership figures from both the public and private sectors to discuss future administrative and leadership transformations while establishing best practices in these areas.

Al Gergawi shared that this gathering is a unique event uniting senior officials along with young leaders in an educational and intellectual session, promoting the philosophy established by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid that “leadership is not merely a title or a position within the hierarchy; it is a responsibility, a mindset, and united teamwork.” He added, “Sheikh Mohammed has elevated the concept of teamwork from organizational boundaries to encompass an entire city, unifying efforts and making Dubai a global model.”

He highlighted that the collaboration between the public and private sectors has been, and continues to be, one of Dubai’s success secrets, stating: “This partnership, built on trust and integration, has made the private sector the most significant pillar in the national economy and has helped solidify Dubai’s status as a global benchmark.”

His Excellency explained that the forum encompasses various specialized fields including economics, investment, community, education, health, infrastructure, technology, artificial intelligence, culture, and media, all contributing toward the vision of a futuristic city where leaders share insights and experiences to accelerate efforts and realize Dubai’s ambitions.

The forum’s activities will feature discussion panels, workshops, and lectures led by international experts in management and leadership, as well as hands-on leadership labs designed to develop innovative initiatives and ideas that enhance Dubai’s global standing.

Al Gergawi pointed out that the Mohammed bin Rashid School of Leadership has demonstrated that ambition knows no bounds, serving the people is the highest trust, and bold decision-making can lead to significant leaps forward. He stressed that “turning challenges into opportunities is a leadership skill ingrained by His Highness in Dubai’s management philosophy.”

He remarked: “Under the leadership of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the desert has transformed into a global city, and we now have the multiplied responsibility to continue our journey and create the future instead of waiting for it.”

In closing his speech, Al Gergawi reaffirmed that the forum marks the beginning of a new phase dedicated to launching innovative ideas and initiatives that will elevate Dubai’s status as the best city in the world. He stated: “We are one city with a shared future, a united team with one spirit and one vision.”
