Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has committed to covering the medical expenses for a Syrian girl, Yaqeen Ibrahim, who is suffering from spinal muscular atrophy.
The girl’s uncle had previously shared a video on social media pleading for assistance to save her life.
He mentioned that Yaqeen is affected by a rare genetic condition requiring urgent treatment, which costs over 7 million dirhams and is only available in a limited number of countries, including Al Jalila Children’s Hospital in Dubai.
Yaqeen’s father, Ibrahim Kanakar, confirmed that Sheikh Mohammed’s office reached out to him directly, informing him that the Sheikh would fully finance Yaqeen’s treatment.
