One Million Students Head to Class Tomorrow Marking the Start of the “New Academic Year”

Tomorrow, over one million students from public and private schools across the nation will begin their academic journey for the 2025-2026 school year. Among them are 25,000 newcomers in public schools. During the summer break, the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with its strategic partners, organized a variety of events and activities aimed at students, including training camps and developmental programs designed to enrich their vacation experience and optimize their time.

As part of the preparation for students’ return, educators from public schools participated in specialized training programs organized by the Ministry in the past days. The Ministry focused on equipping educational staff with innovative teaching methods, providing specialized workshops aimed at supporting teachers in designing interactive and effective lesson plans that enhance students’ learning journeys.

The Ministry completed maintenance work on over 465 schools nationwide and inaugurated 9 new schools in various regions. Additionally, 830 educational staff members were hired, and over 10 million copies of textbooks were printed in partnership with strategic allies. Around 47,000 computers were also distributed to eligible students.

Moreover, the Ministry reported that more than 5,560 school buses have been equipped to the highest safety standards to ensure students’ well-being. For the upcoming academic year, centralized exams for the second semester will be abolished for all educational levels, based on feedback from parents gathered through parent councils conducted last year. Schools will be responsible for creating final exams, aligned with ongoing efforts to enhance the educational system and improve assessment tools to meet academic development needs while considering individual differences among students.

Public schools have issued a set of guidelines, including those related to student appearance and the use of school buses. Meanwhile, private school administrators devised comprehensive plans last week to ensure a smooth transition for students. These preparations included the distribution of class schedules and teachers’ assignments, along with close monitoring by school administrations to ensure the readiness of educational facilities. Inspection tours were conducted last week to assess classrooms and vital facilities, ensuring cleanliness and a safe, comfortable learning environment.
