Dubai’s traffic patrol units apprehended a minibus that was illegally modified to transport a substantial number of gas cylinders after removing its seats for this purpose, posing a significant safety risk.
According to Brigadier Jumaa Bin Suwaidan, acting director of the General Traffic Department, the vehicle was stopped during inspections in the Al Quoz industrial area. The inspection revealed numerous gas cylinders stored inside the vehicle, which presents a serious hazard to both the driver and other road users in the event of an accident, gas leakage, or unsafe storage. Such conditions could lead to explosions or fires.
Brigadier Bin Suwaidan noted that immediate actions were taken to seize the vehicle and detain its driver, who was referred to the appropriate authorities for legal action. He emphasized that Dubai Police prioritizes monitoring such dangerous behaviors that threaten road safety and community security, enhancing surveillance on both internal and external roads, and conducting ongoing traffic campaigns to fine violators.
He cautioned drivers against violating traffic laws, stressing the importance of adhering to regulations and avoiding the transportation of hazardous materials. Such actions are considered criminal offenses with legal consequences and can result in disasters that endanger lives.
Additionally, he urged community members to collaborate with Dubai Police by reporting any suspicious activities or reckless behaviors on the roads via the “We All Are Police” service at (901) or through the Dubai Police smart app. He affirmed that community awareness and positive participation are vital in strengthening safety and security on the emirate’s roads.
