Session “The Era of Fame vs. Actual Influence” Emphasizes the Importance of Gaining Knowledge and Understanding

Media personality and host of the show “Duroob,” Ali Al Sulom, emphasized that fame has become easily attainable thanks to social media platforms. However, creating genuine impact still demands significant effort and a deep understanding of the value behind the messages shared by media professionals and content creators. He stressed the importance of being equipped with knowledge and education to make media discourse meaningful and impactful.

This insight was shared during a session titled “The Age of Fame versus Real Influence,” held on the second day of the Arab Media Summit 2025, where Al Sulom reflected on his media journey that began 13 years ago with his program “Duroob.”

Al Sulom stated, “When I embarked on my journey with Duroob, my primary objective was to explore the cultures of different peoples and engage with the world from a truly human perspective. Fame was never my goal; my aim was to convey images and information truthfully. By the grace of God, I have had the opportunity to visit over 187 destinations worldwide.”

During his discussion, Ali Al Sulom also addressed the new challenges posed by artificial intelligence in the media landscape. He remarked that “the greatest challenge today lies not in using AI tools, but in maintaining responsible and aware messaging,” asserting that true influence is not measured by follower counts, but by the authenticity of the message and the depth of its impact.

In closing, Ali Al Sulom offered advice to media students, stating, “I encourage anyone aspiring to be in the media to ask themselves a fundamental question: Why have you chosen this field? There should be a clear purpose in content creation, and they should arm themselves with knowledge while seeking out a true role model who can inspire them and help shape their professional identity.”
