Sisi and Putin Emphasize the Importance of Restoring Stability in the Middle East

Today, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi emphasized the significance of restoring stability in the Middle East, particularly in the Gaza Strip, and the necessity of intensifying efforts to prevent regional escalation.

During their meeting in Moscow, which coincided with the “Victory Day” celebrations, President el-Sisi outlined Egypt’s initiatives aimed at achieving a ceasefire in Gaza, securing the release of hostages and prisoners, and facilitating humanitarian aid to address the ongoing crisis in the region.

El-Sisi highlighted the critical need for a permanent resolution to the Palestinian issue, advocating for the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the borders established on June 4, 1967, viewing this as the only guarantee for lasting peace in the area.

On his part, President Putin reaffirmed Russia’s full support for Egypt’s efforts to restore calm and achieve regional stability, as well as for the reconstruction plan for Gaza that was approved during the extraordinary Arab summit held in Cairo in March 2025.

According to the Middle East News Agency, the discussions also covered the latest developments in Syria, Libya, and Sudan, in addition to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s stance, advocating for diplomatic solutions to international crises to maintain global peace and security.
