In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, a healthcare initiative has been launched to provide treatment and medical care for 1,000 injured Palestinian children and 1,000 cancer patients from Gaza in the country’s hospitals. The UAE, in collaboration with the World Health Organization, has executed a new evacuation mission from Ramon Airport in Israel, transporting 101 patients accompanied by 87 family members. This brings the total number of patients and their escorts evacuated to 2,634, demonstrating the UAE’s commitment to offering essential medical care to Palestinian brothers in its hospitals.
His Excellency Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organizations and Deputy Chairman of the UAE Agency for International Aid, stated: “The initiative led by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan reflects the historic support of the UAE for the Palestinian people and its solidarity with the residents of Gaza during the current crisis. UAE humanitarian initiatives aim to alleviate the catastrophic impacts faced by those in the region, particularly vulnerable groups such as children, women, and the elderly.”
He continued, “During this critical time, the UAE will spare no effort in assisting our Palestinian brothers, offering humanitarian initiatives both by land, sea, and air. The UAE will persist in its diligent work and leadership role with the United Nations and international partners to enhance efforts aimed at alleviating the humanitarian suffering in Gaza and ensuring the immediate, safe, and unimpeded delivery of aid on a broad and sustainable scale through all possible channels.”
He noted that the UAE has been among the top countries supporting the residents of Gaza since the crisis began in October 2023, providing over 40% of total aid delivered.
His Excellency emphasized that the continuous medical evacuation efforts by the UAE reflect its dedication to providing advanced healthcare for injured Palestinians and its commitment to humanitarian aid during these critical circumstances. He reaffirmed that the UAE will continue its humanitarian and relief efforts, including the evacuation of injured and ill individuals, showcasing its deep commitment to saving lives.
He added, “Since the onset of the crisis, the UAE has made significant efforts to provide advanced medical care for injured and sick Palestinians through the Emirati field hospital in southern Gaza and the floating hospital off the coast of Al Arish, Egypt. Since the beginning of the crisis, the UAE has initiated extensive humanitarian responses to support our Palestinian brothers amid their challenging circumstances, delivering more than 65,000 tons of relief, food, and medical supplies.”
