The United Arab Emirates has once again expressed its unwavering support for Qatar, strongly condemning the reckless and cowardly Israeli aggression against its Gulf neighbor. This act has been described as a blatant violation of the sovereignty of a fellow Arab state and a United Nations member, marking a serious escalation that jeopardizes regional peace and stability.
The UAE emphasized that this attack is a clear infringement of international law and the United Nations Charter, as well as a significant violation of fundamental human rights principles.
This statement was delivered by H.E. Jamal Al-Musharrekh, the UAE’s permanent representative to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, during an urgent discussion held by the UN Human Rights Council, called for by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Gulf Cooperation Council.
His Excellency expressed heartfelt condolences and sincere sympathy to the government and people of Qatar following the martyrdom of a member of the internal security forces as a result of the aggressive Israeli attack, reiterating the UAE’s full solidarity with Qatar and its commitment to standing by the nation in the face of threats to its security and stability.
He also asserted that the security and stability of Qatar are inherently linked to the security and stability of the Gulf Cooperation Council states. Any aggression against a Gulf state is considered an attack on the collective security framework of the Gulf region. He emphasized that the continuation of such provocative and aggressive actions undermines the chances of achieving stability and drives the region towards perilous paths.
In closing, he stressed that the region cannot endure further escalation and instability stemming from inflammatory rhetoric and hate speech, underlining the importance of adhering to the principles outlined in the United Nations Charter.
