Life
Are you envisioning your next extended weekend in the UAE? Imagine if, with a bit of thoughtful planning, you could turn your Eid holiday into an exciting 16-day vacation!
This year, the Eid Al Adha break offers an excellent opportunity to do just that. Arafah Day is anticipated to be on June 5, which falls on a Thursday, followed by a three-day Eid holiday from June 6, Friday, to June 8, Sunday, resulting in a four-day weekend for UAE residents. But why not extend it even further?
A Smart Leave Plan
By taking just 7 days off at strategic points, you can enjoy a complete 16-day holiday while preserving most of your annual leave for future use. Here’s a breakdown:
Option 1: The 9-Day Holiday (Using 3 Leave Days)
Take leave from Monday, June 2 to Wednesday, June 4, and pair these days with the weekend (June 1) plus the Eid break (June 5-8). You’ll return to work on June 9, having enjoyed 9 consecutive days off for only 3 leave days.
Option 2: The Ultimate 16-Day Getaway (Using 7 Leave Days)
If you’re looking for a more extended holiday, take off June 2 to June 4, then add June 9 (Monday) through June 13 (Thursday) to your leave. When accounting for the following weekend (June 14-15), this creates a remarkable 16-day holiday from June 1 to June 16, while still using only 7 leave days.
Now that you have your time off planned, how will you make the most of it?
For the Travel Buff: Consider booking a spontaneous summer trip to Europe, an exotic escape in the Maldives, or an adventure throughout Southeast Asia. With 16 days, there’s ample time to discover various destinations at a relaxed pace.
For the Homebody: Use this period to explore the UAE more thoroughly—enjoy a spa experience, visit new dining spots, or simply relish slow mornings at home.
For Family Time: Organize a trip for the whole family or spend quality time engaging in activities with your children, from beach outings to museum explorations.
Pro Tip: Prepare in Advance. Many other residents may adopt similar leave strategies, so anticipate that flights and accommodations will likely fill up fast during Eid. Confirm your plans early to ensure you don’t miss out on your ideal vacation.
