A Canadian man has been sentenced to two years in prison for stealing a famous photograph of former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, which was taken during World War II.
Judge Robert Wadden emphasized that the man had been convicted of stealing a “cultural and historical” image that represents a “symbol of national pride.” Canadian broadcaster CBC reported that the individual, identified as Jeffrey Wood, confessed to the theft.
