UAE Heritage: An Application Showcasing Customs and Traditions of Emirati Society

A student team recently secured third place at the Innovation Exhibition held in the Emirate of Umm Al-Quwain, organized by the Ministry of Education. Their project, named “Moroth,” aims to raise awareness of Emirati culture, identity, and heritage on a global scale.

The initiative was executed by students Hoor Aissa, Ghala Sultan, Jawaher Hussein, and Asmaa Ahmed, under the guidance of teacher Manal Mohammed Abdel Nabi. The project began with an interactive story designed using artificial intelligence techniques, showcasing scenes from Emirati folklore and bridging the past with the present in an engaging manner suitable for users of all ages.

“Moroth” includes a series of entertaining educational phases that feature games aimed at familiarizing users with Emirati customs, traditions, and cultural heritage. As users progress through these stages, they collect points that can be redeemed for real discounts on flights and tourist attractions in the UAE, making the app a comprehensive educational and travel experience.

According to Manal Mohammed Abdel Nabi, the project supervisor, “This app is a response to the UAE’s vision of enhancing national identity and transforming cultural knowledge into an interactive experience using modern tools.”

The students aimed to create smart content that combines education and entertainment, effectively introducing visitors and tourists to Emirati culture in an innovative way. Additionally, the app enhances the role of youth in supporting the national economy by promoting tourist sites cleverly within the country.
