UAE Libraries Explores Collaboration with the Hassania Treasury in Rabat

A delegation from the UAE Library and Information Association, led by Chairman Fahd Al-Mahmari, recently visited the Hassan II Library in Rabat. They were welcomed by Dr. Ahmed Shawqi Benbane, the library’s director.

During their visit, discussions were held regarding both manuscript and printed book concepts, alongside an exploration of the library’s historical role in preserving intellectual heritage.

The delegation was also introduced to the operational methods used in the restoration department, where both manual and mechanical techniques for binding and restoring books and manuscripts were demonstrated.

Additionally, the tour included a stop at the digitization department, where the delegates learned about manuscript digitization systems and the methods used to ensure the preservation of this cultural legacy for future generations.

The visit also encompassed the researchers’ service department, shedding light on the efforts to support specialists engaged in the scholarly investigation of manuscripts.

At the end of the visit, the delegation received a selection of the latest publications from the Hassan II Library, highlighting various aspects of Arab-Islamic heritage.
