In the presence of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Executive Council, the Advanced Technology and Artificial Intelligence Council convened, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi.
During the meeting, the council reviewed updates on the “Abu Dhabi Digital Government Strategy 2025–2027,” aimed at making Abu Dhabi the first government fully reliant on artificial intelligence by 2027. The discussion included global advancements in artificial intelligence, recent project developments, investments, and research related to AI and advanced technologies within the emirate.
Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan praised the training programs designed for Abu Dhabi government employees on artificial intelligence applications, as well as community initiatives focused on raising awareness about its uses, ensuring citizens are part of the digital transformation journey that aspires to position Abu Dhabi as a hub for innovation and advanced technology. This aligns with the UAE’s priorities in establishing its economic role in future sectors.
He emphasized the council’s continuous efforts to support future sectors and advanced technology, in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. This is achieved through the development and implementation of policies and strategies related to AI technologies, investments, and research, complementing Abu Dhabi’s strategy to become an attractive center for investments, partnerships, and outstanding competencies in this sector. The aim is to solidify its stature as a significant global player by investing in and utilizing cutting-edge technologies to meet developmental goals and enhance the quality of life for our community, consistent with the national vision that places innovation and knowledge at the heart of our future journey.
The council explored ways to integrate the latest technologies to improve services and enhance quality of life, discussing global trends and investment opportunities within this sector. Additionally, it reviewed the direction of artificial intelligence in Abu Dhabi, the council’s future vision, and its role in attracting global AI companies, cultivating leading talent, and enhancing the emirate’s global competitiveness.
The council also examined key projects and initiatives led by prominent national entities and companies in this field, including efforts by ADQ, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), the Government Enablement Authority, and Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence.
Since its establishment in January 2024, the Advanced Technology and Artificial Intelligence Council has been responsible for proposing effective policies that create an encouraging environment for the application of AI technologies, support research and innovation, and foster collaboration between public and private sectors, including international institutions, to accelerate the adoption of AI technologies in Abu Dhabi.
