The exhibition titled “Women in Contemporary Arab Art” in Dubai showcases an endless array of beauty symbolized by the strong presence and influential role of Arab women. Organized by the Kutubna Cultural Center in Dubai, the exhibition features captivating narratives illustrated through diverse artworks highlighting Arab women’s themes and realms. The pieces reveal strength, beauty, resilience, and cultural transformation, crafted by prominent artists in the region.
The exhibition includes 35 original artworks from various parts of the Arab world, showcasing a range of canvases and paper pieces. These works exemplify both classical and experimental styles that have defined art from the 20th century into the early 21st century.
The collection features impactful works by notable artists such as Luai Kyali from Syria, Salah Taher and Adham Wanli from Egypt, and Khalid Al-Jader from Iraq. These artworks illuminate the presence of Arab women in both public and private spheres and belong to the private collection of “International House,” accumulated over 25 years.

Dr. Shadha Al-Mutawa, founder and director of the Kutubna Cultural Center, emphasized that the themes of the exhibition are profoundly significant and inspiring, reflecting Arab artists’ roles in social enlightenment and celebrating the value and roles of women.
She highlighted the uniqueness and excellence of their works, which stand alongside masterpieces by global artists found in prominent museums worldwide. This exhibition conveys an essential and inspirational message affirming the roles and significance of women in our societies, as well as the artists’ celebration of them. Additionally, it plays a vital role in showcasing the value of Arab artists’ creations, who have often been overlooked in favor of their European and American counterparts that dominate art history narratives.
Dr. Al-Mutawa continued, stating their pride in introducing their community to these Arab artists, whose works are highly valued and are noted for their captivating beauty and undeniable impact in the realm of art and museums in the Arab world.
