Young Arab Leaders Program Explores Changes in the Media Landscape

A panel discussion organized by the Young Arab Media Leaders Program, which is facilitated by the Arab Youth Center, featured Saeed Mohammed Al-Attar, the Head of Media Office for the Government of the UAE. The session focused on significant shifts occurring in both regional and international media landscapes, emphasizing the increasing role of young media professionals in shaping the future and public opinion, alongside the challenges posed by modern technology within the sector.

Al-Attar indicated that the UAE has established a unique humanitarian model of tolerance and coexistence, which serves as a message young Emiratis are eager to spread globally. He highlighted that today’s generation is equipped with the tools, skills, and values necessary to convey this message, uphold facts, and promote the principles of brotherhood and stability, especially in an era marked by rapid challenges and the proliferation of misinformation and misleading voices.

He further added that the media landscape is experiencing profound and rapid changes, where there is no room for those who do not continually refine their tools and understanding of the evolving reality by staying aligned with audience trends and utilizing artificial intelligence tools for content creation. This requires media professionals to balance speed with credibility, while being mindful of the impact that every piece of information and word can have in either building or destroying.

Emphasizing the importance of possessing a clear narrative vision and an authentic intellectual identity that reflects core values, he encouraged the young participants in the program to invest in knowledge and craft their personal and professional stories with awareness and professionalism, asserting that a compelling story is the true asset in the age of digital influence.

The discussion also highlighted key changes in the global media ecosystem, focusing on the opportunities and challenges present in the digital environment, as well as strategies for engaging with rapidly changing audiences.

Al-Attar urged young individuals to embrace modern technologies and shift from traditional institutional models to media that is created by the audience, supported by intelligent algorithms. He noted the necessity of developing critical thinking skills among content creators, as well as enhancing awareness of the ethical and professional challenges posed by digital media, in addition to recognizing the growing relationship between media and the economy and the role of content in building both personal and institutional brands.

The Young Arab Media Leaders Program is regarded as one of the largest media training initiatives in the region, continuing its new cycle in enhancing its status as a platform for refining the skills of Arab youth in the media sector, connecting them with opportunities, including 55 young men and women representing 18 Arab countries.
