A 38-year-old man of Asian descent has been sentenced to three months in prison after being apprehended with 89 grams of heroin intended for his own use. The Dubai Criminal Court also mandated the confiscation of the drugs and the man’s deportation following the completion of his sentence.
The investigation began when authorities received a tip regarding the individual’s narcotic use and storage at his home in Al Satwa. Acting on this information, the General Department of Anti-Narcotics conducted a raid, resulting in the man’s arrest and the discovery of three packages of heroin.
Forensic tests confirmed that the seized items consisted of six foil-wrapped packets that held a combined total of 89 grams of heroin, alongside other illicit substances.
A drug test conducted on the suspect indicated the presence of narcotics in his system.
During questioning, he confessed to using the heroin, revealing that he had purchased it from another Asian person through WhatsApp. The dealer provided coordinates for pickups, and payments were made via bank transfers.
The Dubai Court of Appeals later affirmed the original ruling, maintaining the prison sentence, the confiscation of the drugs, and the deportation order.
