Alcaraz Dominates to Reach Indian Wells Third Round; Djokovic Prevails

Sanju Samson is a prominent Indian cricketer known for his impressive skills on the field. Beginning his cricket journey in Delhi, he later moved to Kerala, where he showcased his talent as both a player and captain for various age-level teams, including the U-13, U-16, and U-19 squads. His domestic cricket career gained momentum with a remarkable double-century during the 2008-09 Vijay Merchant Trophy, significantly contributing to his team’s performance in the Ranji Trophy.

In 2022, Samson exhibited his leadership qualities while captaining the India A team, leading them to a clean sweep against New Zealand A in a three-match ODI series where he emerged as the top run-scorer. His form in international T20 cricket has seen ups and downs, but he recently made a strong impact by delivering standout performances in the semi-finals of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. As fans anticipate the finals against New Zealand on March 8, 2026, interest in his personal life, particularly his family, has grown.

Born on November 11, 1994, in a Malayali Christian family from Pulluvila, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, Sanju’s parents are Samson Vishwanath and Lijy Vishwanath. His father, Samson Vishwanath, served as a Delhi Police constable before retiring. Additionally, he was a talented football player and represented Delhi in the Santosh Trophy during his athletic career.

Lijy Vishwanath, Sanju’s mother, is a homemaker. Though she maintains a low profile and keeps personal details private, it is known that her birthday falls on May 10. Sanju frequently pays tribute to his parents through social media, reflecting the close-knit nature of their family dynamic.

Samson Vishwanath played a pivotal role in Sanju’s cricket journey, making significant sacrifices to support his son’s aspirations. He left his position in the Delhi Police to focus on Sanju’s development, moving the family to Kerala while encouraging his son’s early cricket training. Today, he enjoys his retirement, often seen cheering for Sanju during matches. On February 2, 2023, Sanju celebrated his father’s birthday with a heartfelt social media post, expressing gratitude for his father’s unwavering support.

In addition to his parents, Sanju has an elder brother named Saly Samson who also pursued a path in cricket. Saly has played in six List-A matches for the Kerala Cricket Association, though his career has been hampered by injuries. He faced significant hurdles but returned to the sport after a lengthy recovery process. Sanju publicly praised Saly’s dedication and resilience in a heartfelt tribute post back in 2021.

Currently, Saly works in the Accountant General’s office and is married with a daughter named Hazel. As Sanju prepares for the high-stakes match against New Zealand, the support from his family, particularly his father and brother, remains a vital aspect of his journey in cricket.

With the stakes high for Sanju Samson in the upcoming finals, the influence of his family is undeniable. Their unwavering support and encouragement continue to play a crucial role in his achievements.
