In a thrilling conclusion to the one-day international series, Bangladesh edged out Pakistan by 11 runs in the final match held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. The home team’s victory secured a 2-1 series win, marking a significant achievement for the players.
Tanzid Hasan was the standout performer, scoring his maiden century with a brisk 107 runs off 107 balls, featuring six fours and seven sixes. His exceptional innings set the foundation for Bangladesh’s total of 290 for five after being asked to bat first.
Opening the innings, Hasan partnered with Saif Hassan to put on a solid 105-run partnership for the first wicket. Saif contributed a steady 36 runs off 55 balls before his dismissal by Pakistan’s captain, Shaheen Shah Afridi, in the 19th over. Tanzid’s aggressive batting continued as he reached his half-century off just 47 balls and later completed his century in 98 deliveries.
His innings came to an end in the 37th over when he was caught off Abrar Ahmed’s bowling. Following his departure, Litton Das and Towhid Hridoy added valuable runs, with Das scoring 41 runs off 51 balls and Hridoy finishing unbeaten on 48 from 44 balls. Despite their efforts, Bangladesh could only manage to add 77 runs in the final 10 overs while losing two wickets, putting pressure on the middle order.
On the bowling side, Haris Rauf emerged as Pakistan’s leading wicket-taker, finishing with figures of three for 52 in his 10 overs, while Afridi and Abrar each claimed one wicket.
In response, Pakistan’s chase got off to a rough start as they stumbled to 82 for five. It was Agha Salman who provided resilience, scoring a commendable 106 runs off 98 balls. His efforts, however, were not enough to steer the team to victory.
Taskin Ahmed played a pivotal role in Bangladesh’s bowling attack, taking four wickets for 49 runs, while Mustafizur Rahman complemented him with three wickets for 54 runs. Their bowling performances were crucial in swinging the momentum back in favor of Bangladesh, effectively sealing the match and the series.
The match underscored the competitive spirit and talent on both sides, with Bangladesh emerging victorious in a closely contested encounter.
