German rock band Scorpions has canceled its upcoming shows in India due to “unforeseen medical circumstances affecting the band members.” Fans expected to see the band perform their classic hits, but these circumstances have led to a change in plans.
Founded in Hanover in 1965 by guitarist Rudolf Schenker, the band was scheduled to kick off their “Coming Home” India Tour on April 21 in Shillong, with additional performances in Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, and Mumbai later that month. This tour was set to be produced and promoted by BookMyShow Live.
The organizers formally announced the cancellations through an Instagram post stating the details of the canceled dates: Shillong on April 21, Delhi-NCR on April 24, Bengaluru on April 26, and Mumbai on April 30. They expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and reassured fans that all tickets purchased via BookMyShow would be automatically refunded within 7-10 working days.
Members of Scorpions include notable figures such as guitarist Matthias Jabs, vocalist Klaus Meine, bassist Paweł Mąciwoda, and drummer Mikkey Dee. The band last visited India in the 2000s, last performing in 2007 during their “Humanity World Tour.”
Leading up to the “Coming Home” tour, the band had expressed enthusiasm about returning to Indian stages and reminisced about their previous experiences. Jabs noted the great memories they had from their last visits, stating their eagerness to perform for both returning fans and a new generation.
With the unfortunate cancellation, fans will have to wait for another opportunity to see Scorpions live in action. The band’s commitment to returning to India when possible remains strong, ensuring that this setback is only temporary.
