Chelsea’s 10-Men Could Have Triumphed Over Arsenal, Says James

Alisha Chinai, a prominent figure in the Indian music scene, recently reflected on her departure from Bollywood, citing various reasons for her limited involvement in Hindi film music over the past decade. Known for hits like “Made in India” and “Kajra Re,” Chinai’s absence has sparked curiosity among fans and industry watchers alike.

In a candid interview with Free Press Journal, Chinai explained that her absence was a conscious decision driven by her disillusionment with the Bollywood music landscape. She described feeling “burnt out” and mentioned the industry’s prevailing politics as a deterrent. This personal choice is coupled with her concerns regarding the contractual practices imposed on singers, which she deemed unfair and illegal.

Chinai elaborated on her frustrations, emphasizing the copyright issues and lack of fair play that artists like herself faced within the industry. She refused to sign contracts that she believed were unjust, which in turn limited her opportunities in Bollywood. However, she acknowledged that this was a situation that suited her, allowing her to focus on personal matters during her hiatus.

Once a prolific voice in Hindi cinema during the 1990s and 2000s, Chinai has not contributed significantly to film soundtracks since 2013, with her most recent Bollywood song being “Zindagi Meri Dance Dance” from the film Daddy in 2017. Her last major hit was “Dil Tu Hi Bata” from Krrish 3 in 2013.

Beyond her work in films, Alisha Chinai has been a staple in the indipop music scene. Her iconic albums, such as Babydoll and Bombay Girl, helped carve her niche in the 1980s, while “Made in India,” released in 1997, solidified her status as a household name in India. This track remains one of the highest-selling non-film soundtracks to date, showcasing her lasting impact on the country’s music landscape.

Chinai’s reflections shed light on the complexities and challenges faced by artists within the Bollywood framework, highlighting a critical perspective on contractual ethics and the evolution of the music industry in India.
