Emirates Introduces Premium Economy A380 Services on Manchester and Milan Routes

Dubai authorities have apprehended a group engaged in impersonating officials from the Consumer Rights Protection Department. This operation was initiated following reports that the gang had been misleading residents by falsely claiming to represent an official organization.

The suspects convinced victims to access the UAE PASS app to purportedly update their information, which enabled them to breach bank accounts and misappropriate funds.

The Anti-Fraud Centre within the General Department of Criminal Investigation reported that the gang utilized advanced methods to deceive victims into revealing confidential data such as bank card numbers and CVV codes. By abusing individuals’ trust in recognized institutions, they managed to withdraw money from victims’ accounts without their awareness.

In response to the concerning increase in fraudulent schemes, a specialized task force was established to locate the suspects. Authorities successfully tracked them down and seized electronic devices utilized in their scams.

After the arrests, the Dubai Police issued a warning to the public, advising against engaging with callers claiming to be from official organizations. They highlighted that individuals asking for sensitive information, such as banking details, are likely fraudsters aiming to access victims’ accounts.

The Anti-Fraud Centre urged community members to avoid sharing personal or sensitive information over the phone, even if claims of official representation are made. The police recommended that personal information should only be provided after confirming the caller’s identity and the legitimacy of their request to prevent falling victim to fraud.

Dubai Police reaffirmed their dedication to fighting cybercrime and safeguarding the public from those who exploit the identities of official organizations. They encouraged individuals to report any suspicious calls immediately and to report any incidents of cyber fraud at the nearest police station or through the dedicated “eCrime” platform at www.ecrime.ae.
