Football Supporters Europe (FSE) has raised concerns about the ticket prices for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, calling for an immediate halt to sales due to what they describe as “extortionate” costs. As the tournament approaches, taking place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, 2026, the prices have reportedly surged nearly five times compared to the last edition held in Qatar in 2022.
FSE expressed astonishment at the steep prices set by FIFA, particularly for loyal supporters. The group’s statement highlighted that tickets allocated to national associations, which are typically distributed through official channels, are now reaching unprecedented levels.
The organization indicated that if a fan wishes to follow their team throughout the tournament, the total cost could soar to a staggering minimum of $6,900. In light of these figures, FSE has called on FIFA to suspend ticket sales and engage in discussions with relevant stakeholders to reassess both the pricing and distribution of tickets. The aim is to reach a resolution that honors the World Cup’s rich tradition, cultural importance, and accessibility.
FSE also pointed out discrepancies between current prices and earlier commitments made by the organizers. They referenced a bid document from 2018 that promised tickets starting at just $21. This raises questions about the availability and distribution of affordable pricing options that were initially assured.
The organization emphasized that the proposed cost of following a team to the final was supposed to be around $2,242 for the most economical category. FSE’s inquiry into the current status of these tickets highlights a disconnect between expectations and reality for dedicated football fans.
