India secured a dramatic victory over England, winning by 7 runs in the second semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, held at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. This win positions India favorably as they continue their quest for the World Cup title, with Sanju Samson emerging as a key player by scoring 89 runs.

The match drew a glittering crowd of Bollywood celebrities. Notable figures such as Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Triptii Dimri, and Anil Kapoor were present to cheer for the Indian team. Footage emerged on social media showing Raha, the daughter of Ranbir and Alia, joyfully clapping along with her parents as they enjoyed the intense match.

As the game concluded, Varun Dhawan and Anil Kapoor expressed their excitement by cheering and waving the Indian flag. Anil shared his enthusiasm on Instagram with the caption, “Finale unlocked! Let’s go Team India,” while Triptii shared her emotional reaction, stating, “Goosebumps watching this team.”

Several Bollywood stars took to social media to celebrate India’s performance. Akshay Kumar highlighted the team’s impressive march towards the finals on X, declaring, “What a win, Team India!” Similarly, Ajay Devgn expressed his enjoyment of the match, remarking, “Team India played like absolute champs. On to the finals now.”

Preity Zinta also praised the team on X, congratulating the players on their dominant performance. She specifically acknowledged the standout contributions from Sanju Samson, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Akshar Patel. Despite feeling unwell, Zinta’s excitement for the game shone through as she remarked on the thrilling nature of the match and the commendable batting by Jacob Bethel.

In terms of match statistics, India set a new record in the T20 World Cup semi-finals, finishing their innings at 253/7—the highest total ever recorded at this stage of the tournament. Both Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma played crucial roles, capping off a strong team performance that built upon the solid foundation established by Samson and Shivam Dube.

India will take to the field again to defend their T20 World Cup title at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, March 8.
