Pakistan Chooses to Bowl First Against India in Key Under-19 World Cup Match

Pakistan Under-19 won the toss and chose to bowl first against India Under-19 in a crucial Super 6 Group 2 match of the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026. This match marks the last in the group stage, with both teams aiming for a semi-final spot, making it a must-win encounter for each side.

In Super Six Group 1, Australia and Afghanistan have secured their places in the semi-finals, while England has advanced from Group 2. With England already qualified, the final semi-final spot from Group 2 is still up for grabs.

Currently, India holds second place in the group, boasting three wins from three matches and a net run rate of +3.337. Pakistan is positioned third with two wins from three games and a net run rate of +1.484. A victory for Pakistan would equal their points with India at six, but they need a significant win to surpass India’s superior net run rate. Conversely, India remains undefeated in the tournament, and a win here would confirm their place in the next round.

As for the playing elevens, India has named Aaron George, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Ayush Mhatre (captain), Vihaan Malhotra, Abhigyan Kundu (wicketkeeper), Vedant Trivedi, RS Ambrish, Kanishk Chouhan, Khilan Patel, Henil Patel, and Deepesh Devendran. In contrast, Pakistan’s lineup features Hamza Zahoor (wicketkeeper), Sameer Minhas, Usman Khan, Ahmed Hussain, Farhan Yousaf (captain), Huzaifa Ahsan, Ali Hassan Baloch, Abdul Subhan, Momin Qamar, Mohammad Sayyam, and Ali Raza.

At the toss, Indian captain Ayush Mhatre expressed confidence in his team’s capabilities. He informed the media that Deepesh Devendran had replaced Udhav Mohan in the playing eleven.

“We were looking to bat first. Boys are doing really well. We are confident enough. The boys are playing really well. It’s a sunny day. The first three matches experienced rain and some difficulties, but the last two have been played in good weather, which has helped us a lot. One change: Udhav Mohan misses out, and Deepesh comes in,” Mhatre stated.

With both teams eager to secure their semi-final ambitions, spectators can expect a thrilling contest filled with high stakes.
