Veteran writer Salim Khan and his wife, Salma Khan, celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in Mumbai on November 17. This significant milestone was marked by a cozy gathering with close family and friends.
The couple arrived at the residence of their son, Sohail Khan, where the celebration took place. Notable family members, including Salman Khan, Zaheer Iqbal, and Sonakshi Sinha, were also in attendance. A video captured the couple’s joyful entrance as they stepped out of their car, highlighting the family bond that has endured through the years.
Helen, Salim Khan’s second wife, also joined the celebration and graciously posed for cameras before entering the venue. Salman Khan made a stylish appearance in an all-black outfit, acknowledging the media with a wave as he arrived, though he opted not to pause for photos. Meanwhile, Zaheer Iqbal and Sonakshi Sinha were seen navigating their way into the gathering while keeping a low profile.
Salim and Salma’s journey together began in 1964, prior to Salim’s rise in the film industry with iconic movies such as “Sholay,” “Zanjeer,” and “Deewar.” Together, they raised four children: Salman, Arbaaz, Sohail, and Alvira. Salim has shared that their courtship involved secret meetings before he formally approached Salma’s family, overcoming initial objections related to cultural differences.
Reflecting on their marriage, Salim recalled how they integrated traditional rituals, like the saat phere, into their ceremony. The couple also had a nikaah, symbolizing their commitment free from pressure. In 1981, Salim married actress Helen Richardson, maintaining both relationships without divorcing Salma.
Recently, a touching video went viral, showing Salim feeding Salma, which garnered widespread affection from viewers online. This moment underscored the enduring love shared between the couple, showcasing the emotional bond that has lasted over six decades.
