Rapper Honey Singh has recently come under fire for remarks made during Nanku and Karun’s concert in Delhi, prompting him to issue an apology through a video posted on Instagram. His comments have sparked backlash, leading him to clarify his intentions.
In his video apology, Honey Singh explained that he had consulted with medical professionals, including gynaecologists and sexologists, who informed him that Generation Z is experiencing a rise in sexually transmitted diseases due to unsafe sexual practices. His aim was to convey a message about safe sex to the younger audience present at the concert. He stated, “Seeing the Gen Z audience, I thought I’d share a message in a way they would understand—emphasizing the importance of using condoms and practicing safe sex.”
Acknowledging the offense caused by his words, Honey Singh expressed regret, saying, “Many were very offended by that language. I apologise to all who felt bad at what I said. I didn’t intend to hurt anyone. Humans make errors.” He reaffirmed his commitment to being more mindful in the future, vowing to consider his audience when making similar comments.
His statement on avoiding such mistakes again emphasized his desire for improvement: “I’ll try not to repeat my mistake and will control my speech when I talk to anyone.” He wrapped up the apology with a heartfelt message to his fans, asking them to continue showing him love and support.
The controversial remarks were made during a performance earlier in the week, where Honey Singh suggested that the cold weather in Delhi made it exciting to engage in intimate activities in cars. He urged the audience to be responsible, stating, “So, have sex in the car in Delhi’s cold. Use condoms, guys, please. Play safe!”
Reactions to his comments have been mixed, with some online users criticizing his past content and labeling him “Yo Yo Horny Singh,” suggesting that his fame was built on songs that objectified women. Other commenters expressed a desire for him to step back from the limelight, indicating a significant divide in public opinion regarding his persona and remarks.
