Riviera Shines Brightly as Genesis Invitational Captivates Golf Fans

The PGA Tour’s Signature Event, the Genesis Invitational, is poised at the forefront. Taking place at the renowned Riviera Country Club in California, this year marks the 100th anniversary of the tournament, previously known as the Los Angeles Open. With a substantial purse of $20 million, the event is organized by the Tiger Woods Foundation, emphasizing inclusivity in golf.

Notably, Babe Zaharias broke barriers in 1938 as the first female golfer to compete in a professional men’s tournament, a testament to the event’s legacy. Last year, Ludvig Aberg from Sweden took home the title, as well as a $4 million prize, following a shift in the venue to Torrey Pines due to wildfires in Southern California.

The Riviera Country Club is steeped in history, having hosted a roster of golf legends, including Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. Tiger Woods made his PGA Tour debut at this venue in 1992, starting his career with a score of 72–75.

In addition to the Genesis Invitational, the Riviera has hosted several major championships, including the U.S. Open and PGA Championship, and is set to welcome the 2026 U.S. Women’s Open along with events during the 2028 Summer Olympics.

Meanwhile, the DP World Tour and HotelPlanner Tour are back in action, showcasing budding talents from the Class of 2025 while veteran players look to reclaim their top spots.

This week is rich with opportunities for golf enthusiasts to catch thrilling matches across the globe, from the historic Riviera to emerging talents in Africa and exciting LPGA events in Thailand.
