Saqlain Mushtaq Reveals Spin Bowling Secrets to UAE Cricketers in Sharjah

Cricket fans in the UAE recently had the chance to participate in an extraordinary coaching programme led by acclaimed Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq. Held at the renowned Sharjah Cricket Stadium from January 24 to 26, the event offered a unique opportunity for young cricketers to enhance their skills.

Over the course of three days, the spin-focused camp was organised by MS YTCA in collaboration with CRICKETAAA. Designed to go beyond traditional coaching methods, the programme immersed participants in the intricacies of spin bowling, combining tactical education, technical skill enhancement, and mental conditioning. This comprehensive approach aimed to prepare the players for the rigours of competitive cricket.

A highlight of the session was the one-on-one coaching with Saqlain Mushtaq. These intimate interactions allowed young cricketers to learn about spin bowling mechanics, grip techniques, and situational strategies directly from a seasoned professional. This access to Saqlain’s extensive experience provided invaluable insights into the elite world of cricket.

Saqlain emphasized the importance of mindset in spin bowling. He stated, “Spin bowling is a skill that needs courage, clarity, and control. This camp is not just about drills — it’s about teaching young bowlers how to think, plan, and perform under pressure.” His enthusiasm for coaching in Sharjah, a venue rich in cricket history, underscored his commitment to nurturing the next generation of players.

The initiative also aimed to lay the groundwork for future cricketing success. Shahzad Altaf, the Founder of MS YTCA, expressed that the programme transcended typical coaching. He noted, “This is more than coaching. It’s about creating future-ready players with strong values and technical depth. Saqlain’s presence brought unmatched value to our programme.”

In addition to the hands-on training, the camp introduced a Cricket Profile Repository developed under Saqlain’s guidance. According to Neha Chandra, Director of CRICKETAAA, this tool analyses the strengths and weaknesses of teenage cricketers in the UAE, offering data-driven insights. This initiative is aimed at supporting players in their progression from talented youth to disciplined, high-performance athletes.

The camp not only highlighted the art of spin bowling but also provided an essential platform for young athletes to gain critical knowledge and skills, shaping their future in cricket. With the support of experienced mentors like Saqlain Mushtaq, participants left equipped with the tools necessary to elevate their game and pursue excellence in sports.
