Scheffler Returns to Masters Thrilled by Arrival of Newborn Son

Filmmaker Priyadarshan has addressed recent allegations regarding similarities between his song “Ram Ji Bhala Karein” from the upcoming film “Bhooth Bangla” and a classic piece from Satyajit Ray’s 1969 film “Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne.” The contention arises from a shared expression that resonates within both compositions.

In his response, Priyadarshan emphasized that such repetitions are not unusual in the film industry. He acknowledged the influence of Ray, stating, “I have huge respect for him because he’s one of the masters from whom I learned cinema.” Highlighting the commonality of words in Indian cinema, he metaphorically noted, “There are hundreds of movies that have used the word ‘deewana’. Does that mean the first person who used it has the right to it?” He expressed confidence in the originality of the tune, noting no direct connection to Ray’s work.

Priyadarshan, recognized for his iconic films like “Hera Pheri” and “Bhool Bhulaiya,” considers Ray a seminal figure in Indian cinema. He also pointed out the historical context of film titles, mentioning another film called “Bhoot Bangla” featuring Mehmood and music by R.D. Burman. This reiteration of titles is common, he explained, and does not imply copyright infringement.

The cast of “Bhooth Bangla” includes notable actors such as Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, and Mithila Palkar, adding to the film’s appeal. Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures, in collaboration with Cape of Good Films, the movie is backed by prominent producers Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor, and Ektaa R. Kapoor.

Set to premiere in theaters on April 17, “Bhooth Bangla” has garnered anticipation, with paid previews beginning the night before, at 9 PM on April 16. Fans of horror-comedies can look forward to this engaging project as it prepares to hit the big screen.
