Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club recently experienced a vibrant weekend as it hosted two tournaments, reinforcing its standing as a favorite destination for golf aficionados in the Northern Emirates. The eventful Sunday brought together enthusiastic participants eager to showcase their skills in a spirited atmosphere.
The day began with the BMW Open Social, generously supported by AGMC. Ideal weather complemented the promising course conditions, giving players a fantastic environment for a competitive outing. Among the highlights, the team of Ramli Sulaiman and Syed Maqsood stood out with a remarkable 12-under-par performance, securing first place with a total of nine net birdies and two net eagles.
The nine-hole contests also featured impressive showings. On the Front Nine, Aleksandra Hanusik and Jacek Hanusik took the lead with a remarkable seven-under-par score of 28. Meanwhile, Grant Bowen and Zac Van Zyl dominated the Back Nine with an excellent six-under-par 30. The club expressed gratitude to all participants, recognizing AGMC for its ongoing support of the BMW Open Social series.
As the afternoon progressed, the focus shifted to the Golf Society League, with Round 4 launched at Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club. This round brought heightened competition as societies competed fiercely for valuable points across three divisions. In League 1, The Grass Holes showcased their strength by winning both matches against The Dubai Exputts, reaping the maximum six points. The defending champions, Nepalese Golf Society, also excelled, defeating The Hole Seekers twice. Both The All Stars and Al Puza contributed to the competitive nature of the league, each securing one victory.
The performance of Sharjah Bunker Boyz in League 2 was notable as they secured a clean sweep against Social Society 1, bolstering their prospects for qualification. Kegs 1 achieved a hard-fought encounter against Dubai Dragons 1, resulting in one win and one draw, ultimately earning them four points.
In League 3, Spartans Golf Society exhibited dominance with two victories against Social Golf 2, achieving a perfect six points. The matchup between GolfLinx 2 and Dragons 2 resulted in a balanced contest, with both teams exchanging victories and accruing three points each.
Additionally, the Betterball Stableford competition added an extra layer of excitement. Fernando Cabero and Imad Alhamad from The Grass Holes topped the leaderboard with an impressive total of 45 points, narrowly beating out Sharjah Bunker Boyz’s Sami Butt and Ye Liu on countback.
With Round 4 now concluded, participants eagerly anticipate the upcoming fixtures scheduled for March 8. Societies remain focused on striving for knockout qualifications, all aiming for the ultimate reward—a Golf Away trip to Thailand.
