Shanaya Kapoor and Vikrant Massey’s romantic drama, “Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan,” has struggled to find an audience since its release. Despite its entrance into the Bollywood scene, the film experienced lackluster box office performances, earning only ₹43 lakh on its second day.
The opening day yielded modest revenue, bringing in ₹30 lakh. Although Saturday’s figures showed a slight increase, the film has yet to reach the ₹1 crore mark cumulatively, with overall collections currently standing at ₹73 lakh. This underperformance raises questions about its appeal.
Audience turnout has not improved significantly, with a disappointing overall occupancy rate of 15.25% on Saturday. Morning shows attracted only 7.52% of viewers, while afternoon and evening performances saw slight upticks of 15.60% and 14.72%, respectively. Night shows captured a better audience share at 23.14%, but overall numbers remain low.
Shanaya Kapoor, daughter of Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor, initially intended to debut in the now-shelved film “Bedhadak.” Instead, she has now taken her first steps into the industry with this project, which has not yet garnered the success anticipated.
Directed by Santosh Singh, “Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan” is an adaptation of Ruskin Bond’s short story, “The Eyes Have It.” This narrative focuses on a love story between a visually impaired musician and a theatre artist, delving into themes of emotion and human connection.
Critics have been equally unimpressed, with reviews highlighting a lack of engagement. The Hindustan Times pointed out that while the film begins with potential, it ultimately fails to deliver excitement or genuine emotional highs, leaving viewers wanting more.
