Tommy Fleetwood has made Dubai his home since 2022 and frequently expresses how connected he feels to the emirate. As he gears up for the new golf season, Fleetwood will return to a venue that holds special significance for him: the Emirates Golf Club.
In 2025, Fleetwood achieved remarkable feats, notably winning the FedExCup and playing a crucial role in Europe’s historic Ryder Cup victory at Bethpage Black. He has officially committed to the 2026 Hero Dubai Desert Classic, set to take place from January 22 to 25, marking the opening event of the Rolex Series for the Race to Dubai.
The reigning World Number Four will compete against a stellar field that includes defending champion Tyrrell Hatton and four-time tournament winner Rory McIlroy, all eager for a strong start to the season. Fleetwood’s 2025 season was characterized by outstanding performances, culminating in a dramatic win at the Tour Championship in Atlanta, where he clinched the FedExCup title.
Preparing for his 15th consecutive appearance at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, the 34-year-old arrives in Dubai with renewed energy, especially after finishing tied for third at last week’s DP World India Championship, which featured a $10 million purse.
His determination is evident as he approaches the tournament with passion. “It’s been an incredible year, winning the FedExCup and being part of that special Ryder Cup victory for Europe,” Fleetwood remarked. He added, “I always enjoy starting my season in Dubai, and the Hero Dubai Desert Classic has become a tournament that I love. I’m looking forward to teeing it up close to home in front of friends and family once again and trying to get my hands on that famous Dallah Trophy.”
Simon Corkill, Executive Tournament Director of the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, expressed enthusiasm for Fleetwood’s participation. He noted, “Tommy’s return is an exciting addition to what is shaping up to be an exceptional field for 2026. His incredible FedEx Cup triumph and role in Europe’s Ryder Cup success solidify his status as a compelling competitor.”
For the third consecutive year, the event is GEO-certified, underscoring its commitment to sustainability while enhancing wellness initiatives and eco-friendly transport options. The Dubai Metro provides convenient access for golf fans, delivering them to the Emirates Golf Club, ensuring a seamless journey to the Majlis Course.
Tournament Town will once again create a vibrant festival atmosphere with live music, food trucks, arts and crafts, wellness activities, and family-friendly entertainment, enriching the on-course experience.
General admission is free on Thursday and Friday, while weekend tickets start at AED 100 in advance (AED 125 on-site). Children aged 17 and under can attend for free with a registered ticket and accompanying adult.
The Social on Sixteen, which debuted in 2025, is expanding in size, offering enhanced views of the iconic 16th hole, premium casual dining, and four hours of beverages from Friday to Sunday (tickets starting at AED 695). For those seeking high-end hospitality, The Dallah Lounge between the 9th and 18th greens will offer gourmet food and beverages with impressive rooftop views of the Dubai skyline (packages start at AED 2,100).
Entering its 37th edition, the Hero Dubai Desert Classic stands as the longest-running professional golf tournament in the Middle East, celebrated for its exceptional fields, sustainability efforts, and unforgettable experiences for fans.
