The Emirates Energy Award, organized by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, has concluded the submission phase for its fifth edition under the theme “Enhancing Carbon Neutrality,” receiving a total of 240 entries from 24 countries, emphasizing its prominent status as a global platform for supporting the transition in the energy and sustainability sector.
His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Chairman of the Emirates Energy Award, stated: “The remarkable and significant interest witnessed in the fifth edition of the award underscores its growing position as a leading global platform in sustainable energy, aligning with the vision of our wise leadership to encourage innovation and technology for the benefit of humanity.”
The international momentum of participation reflects the trust in the award at both regional and global levels and the active role it plays in promoting innovation and adopting best practices in the clean energy sector.
The diverse quality and geographic distribution of submissions align with our leadership’s vision to enhance the transition toward a sustainable green economy and supports the UAE’s strategic goals of achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
Ahmed Butti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Vice Chairman of the Award’s Executive Committee, noted: “This year, we saw a remarkable international response, reinforcing the award’s message as a global platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences in the sustainable energy sector.”
He emphasized that the diversity in nationalities, sectors, and the types of projects submitted indicates that the Emirates Energy Award brings together effective practices from around the world, contributing to sustainable transition efforts through projects with tangible technical, economic, and environmental viability.
The submissions were distributed across the ten award categories, reflecting the substantial variety in the nature of the projects and initiatives received. The Research and Development category received the highest number of submissions, with 60 entries from research centers and specialized institutions, highlighting the growing interest in developing innovative technical solutions in energy.
Following this, the Education and Capacity Building category had 29 submissions focused on training programs and awareness initiatives, demonstrating the increasing role of knowledge and community empowerment in supporting sustainable transition.
Moreover, the Energy Efficiency category for the public sector saw a noticeable interest from government entities, receiving 25 submissions, while the Young Talents category in the energy sector recorded 24 entries, reflecting a high level of awareness among youth and their rising role in this vital sector.
