Akshay Kumar Reflects on a Near-Disastrous 1969 Vaishno Devi Journey

Legendary singer Asha Bhosle passed away at the age of 92 on April 12 due to multiple organ failure. Her funeral was held a day later, and actor Mumtaz shared a poignant video from the ceremony, reflecting on their close relationship.

In the video posted on Instagram, Mumtaz expresses her sorrow by remarking, “Kitni pyaari lag rahi hai,” meaning “She looks so lovely.” She invites the videographer to capture the touching moment, referring to it as “yadgaari,” or something worth remembering. The clip showcases the deep affection Mumtaz felt for Bhosle.

Mumtaz captioned her post with a heartfelt message emphasizing the private nature of their bond. She wrote, “Not every relationship, not every love, is meant for the world to witness. Some bonds live quietly within the heart—where only you truly understand the depth of longing and the weight of grief for those you love. #ashabhosle ji, you will be missed.” This tribute underscores the intimate connection they shared.

Earlier, Mumtaz had also released a tribute video featuring moments of them dancing together. She expressed her profound sense of loss, highlighting Bhosle not only as a legendary voice but as a soul that brought life to her performances. “Her songs gave life, charm and emotion to my performances in a way that words can never fully express. Working with her voice was truly a blessing,” she remarked.

Bhosle’s final days were marked by hospitalization due to exhaustion and a chest infection. She was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on April 11 but succumbed to organ failure the next day. The last rites were performed by her son, Anand Bhosle, at Shivaji Park Crematorium, with her burial taking place on April 13 accompanied by state honors. Numerous Bollywood stars, including Vidya Balan, Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Vicky Kaushal, attended to pay their respects.

Tributes continued to pour in from across the music industry. Singers like Shreya Ghoshal and Karan Aujla honored Bhosle at their recent concerts. Farhan Akhtar dedicated a performance of her iconic song “Dum Maaro Dum” during a concert in Jalandhar, Punjab, further celebrating her legacy.

Prime Minister Modi also expressed his condolences via social media, stating, “Deeply saddened by the passing of Asha Bhosle Ji, one of the most iconic and versatile voices India has ever known.” He acknowledged her extraordinary musical journey and the impact she had on Indian culture. Her voice, which carried timeless brilliance, will be cherished by many for generations to come.
