Dhurandhar, the latest film starring Ranveer Singh, has made waves at the box office, setting a new record for the highest-grossing Bollywood film in India. With its net earnings surpassing ₹648 crore, it has outperformed the previous record-holder, Jawan, in just over three weeks of release.
On its 22nd day in theaters, Dhurandhar crossed the remarkable ₹648.5 crore mark, marking a significant achievement for the film directed by Aditya Dhar. As it continues to generate ticket sales, industry insiders predict that the film could reach the ₹700 crore milestone, ultimately vying for the title of the highest-grossing Hindi film in history, currently held by Pushpa 2: The Rule.
The film has continued to maintain strong ticket sales, grossing over ₹15 crore in its fourth week. This impressive performance has pushed it ahead of other successful Bollywood films. In comparison, Jawan collected ₹640 crore, while Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava secured ₹601 crore, and Stree 2 followed closely with ₹598 crore.
Dhurandhar finds itself amid an exclusive group of Bollywood films that have crossed the ₹500 crore mark in domestic collections. Alongside it, other notable films include Animal (₹553 crore), Gadar 2 (₹525 crore), and Pathaan (₹543 crore). Pathaan made history as the first Bollywood film to breach the ₹500 crore threshold, a record previously held by Aamir Khan’s Dangal for seven years, which collected ₹387 crore across all languages.
Aside from these films, several pan-India productions have also reached significant box office milestones. Films like Baahubali 2 (₹511 crore) and Pushpa 2, which stands out with collections exceeding ₹812 crore, further showcase the growing trend of blockbuster hits within both Bollywood and regional cinema.
Dhurandhar features Ranveer Singh as Hamza, an Indian spy infiltrating criminal networks in Karachi. The film also stars well-known actors such as Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and R. Madhavan. With a sequel expected to release in March 2026, the film’s success may pave the way for further exploration of its gripping storyline and character arcs.
As the film industry continues to thrive, Dhurandhar’s impressive performance at the box office exemplifies the potential for new narratives and the enduring popularity of Bollywood cinema in India.
