BBQ Challenge of Week 6: Contestant Eliminations

This season includes contestants with diverse backgrounds, including the identical twin duo of Brandon and Jonathan Dearden, as well as Jennifer Lee Jackson and Justin Tootla, who are both business partners and life partners. As of week 6, the competition saw a reduction to nine contestants following an intense 24-hour BBQ challenge held on April 13, 2026. Chicago’s Sieger Bayer was the latest contestant eliminated after this round. He has now moved to Last Chance Kitchen, a segment that gives eliminated chefs another shot at re-entering the main competition.

Details of the BBQ Challenge

The BBQ challenge involved dividing the contestants into two teams of five, led by Anthony Jones and Justin Tootla, resulting in a notable twin matchup. The challenge’s format included five rounds, where chefs prepared dishes featuring a specific part of the hog. A cash prize of $5,000 was awarded for winning each round, while the team with the most wins received immunity from elimination.

Reasons for Sieger Bayer’s Elimination

Sieger Bayer faced Laurence Louie in the second round of the challenge. Louie’s dish featured roasted pork loin with crispy skin and XO sauce, while Bayer prepared a similar dish but included crispy pig ear terrine and a mustard-based carrot sauce. Louie successfully managed the cooking process, ensuring his pork loin was perfectly timed and cut, while Bayer left his hog in the cooker for an excessive duration, leading to overcooking and a dry dish.

This misstep ultimately cost Bayer the round against Louie, highlighting the critical importance of timing and technique in BBQ preparation. As the competition progresses, viewers are left pondering who will emerge victorious in season 23.
