Former President Donald Trump expressed significant disappointment with Russian President Vladimir Putin ahead of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s upcoming visit to Washington this Friday.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump stated, “I am extremely frustrated because my relationship with Vladimir was very good, and perhaps still is. I don’t understand why he continues this war.”
Trump emphasized that Putin seems unwilling to conclude the conflict with Ukraine, which has persisted for over three and a half years, saying, “I believe that makes him look very bad. He could end it quickly.”
At the same time, Trump praised Ukraine for its defense against Russia and confirmed that Zelensky would be visiting him on Friday, mentioning, “He wants weapons and is interested in obtaining Tomahawk missiles.”
Trump did not rule out the possibility of supplying Ukraine with Tomahawk cruise missiles, indicating that he would like to discuss the matter with Russia.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov previously warned against such actions on Monday.
Tomahawk missiles have a range of up to 2,500 kilometers and can technically be equipped with nuclear warheads.
