China issued a warning to the United States on Saturday, cautioning against “playing with fire” regarding the Taiwan issue. This statement follows remarks made by U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth during a security forum in Singapore, which Beijing found provocative.
In an official statement, the Chinese Foreign Ministry asserted, “The United States should not seek to use the Taiwan issue as a bargaining chip to contain China, nor should it engage in dangerous provocations.” The ministry also confirmed that formal protests were lodged with the U.S. in response to Hegseth’s comments.
