The UAE-based “Make a Wish” Foundation has signed a cooperation agreement with the Egyptian Hospital for Burns, aimed at providing psychological support to children with burn injuries by fulfilling their wishes, which aids in their recovery and reintegration into society.
The signing ceremony, held in Cairo, was attended by His Excellency Abdul-Basit Mohammed Al-Marzouqi, Deputy Head of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires of the UAE Embassy in Cairo, Hamdan Al-Kaabi, a member of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, Noha Al-Shourbagy, Chief Operating Officer of “Make a Wish”, and Dr. Heba Al-Sweedy, founder and chairwoman of the Board of Trustees for the Hospital for Burns in Egypt.
Sheikha Sheikha bint Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, honorary president of the “Make a Wish” Foundation, expressed pride in launching this partnership with the Hospital for Burns in Egypt, which represents a comprehensive model of medical and humanitarian care. She emphasized that this initiative aligns with “Make a Wish’s” commitment to the UAE’s vision and its global humanitarian strategy, focusing on providing psychological and social support to children and spreading hope in their lives through realizing their wishes. This underscores the nation’s dedication to standing by children in various health and social circumstances.
Dr. Heba Al-Sweedy remarked that the Hospital for Burns in Egypt views patients not just as medical cases, but places humanity at the forefront of their care. She highlighted that the collaboration with “Make a Wish” embodies the hospital’s philosophy that hope is as crucial as medicine, and that supporting a patient psychologically and fulfilling their wishes, however simple they may seem, can significantly impact their ability to overcome pain and regain trust in themselves and the world around them.
This partnership emphasizes both the Foundation and the hospital’s commitment to delivering holistic care that integrates medical treatment with psychological support, helping child burn victims and their families overcome challenges and restore hope.
