Dr. Essam Al-Zarouni, a member of the Health Affairs Committee at the UAE’s Hajj Affairs Office, stated that the committee is responsible for monitoring the health conditions of pilgrims both before and after their arrival in Saudi Arabia. This includes conducting necessary medical examinations, administering preventive vaccinations, and providing guidance on how to perform the rituals in a safe and healthy manner.
In his remarks, Al-Zarouni highlighted that the committee is equipped with a specialized medical team and all the necessary equipment to deliver essential health services across various camps in the holy sites. Adequate supplies of medications and medical solutions are available. He noted that if a pilgrim requires hospitalization, arrangements will be made to transfer them to a specialized hospital in coordination with the relevant authorities in Saudi Arabia, while the medical team continues to monitor their condition.
Furthermore, Al-Zarouni emphasized the committee’s commitment to health awareness and education, particularly in preventing heat stress and sunstroke, as well as minimizing the spread of respiratory illnesses. The committee also provides preventive guidelines to ensure the overall health of pilgrims, allowing them to carry out their rituals smoothly and safely, without facing any health-related complications.
