Conditional Summit Explores Four Key Themes on Its Second Day

The discussions and strategic sessions during the second day of the Global Police Summit focused on four primary areas: drug enforcement, policing operations, aviation security, and cybersecurity fraud.

The summit’s agenda encompasses 12 key policing themes across four specialized conferences addressing various issues, including cybercrime, border security, drug trafficking, road safety, and human trafficking.

In the cybersecurity segment, Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, chairman of the Cybersecurity Council for the UAE government, stated, “Technology will continue to evolve, leading us toward the fifth industrial revolution and beyond.”

He emphasized that technology can be a valuable asset for everyone if utilized correctly, but acknowledged that some entities aim to misuse it for malicious purposes.

To combat this, he noted that proactive measures are being taken across the nation to monitor and respond to various cyberattacks swiftly, eliminating harmful infrastructures.

During a session titled “Public Order and Crowd Control: Intelligence-Based Security for International Events,” the discussion highlighted the necessity for integration within the operational system involving intelligence work, planning, and execution.

This underscored the essential role of intelligence in mitigating security threats, ensuring public safety, and facilitating the smooth conduct of events safely. Contributors to this session included Antonin Flamant, Chief of Staff at the French Ministry of the Interior, Franz Rüf, Director General of Public Security in Austria, and Tarun Joba, the General Commissioner of the Indian Police.

Also participating were Lieutenant General Abdullah Al Ghaithy, Assistant Commander General for Operations at Dubai Police, Dr. David Roberts, Executive Director at the UK’s Strategic Risk Management Institute, Cathy Lanier, former Chief of Police in Washington, and Nuwin Bhardwaj, CEO of Triscon Event Management Group.

In another session titled “Combating Global Drug Trafficking through Statistical Utilization to Enhance Drug Law Enforcement Efficiency,” participants explored how evidence-based methods can strengthen decision-making processes, boost international cooperation, and improve the effectiveness of drug enforcement operations in an ever-changing global landscape.

Mohammed Al Kuwaiti:

There are entities looking to misuse technology, and we are vigilant against this.
