The recent film “120 Bahadur,” starring Farhan Akhtar, has gained significant recognition as it was declared tax-free in Delhi by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. This war film portrays the Battle of Rezang La from the 1962 Sino-Indian War and honors the bravery of Indian soldiers.
In a post on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), CM Gupta praised the film for its tribute to the soldiers of Charlie Company, 13 Kumaon Regiment. She emphasized that the film encapsulates the inspiring leadership of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, whose legacy is a powerful symbol of valor in India’s military history. Starting from November 28, the Delhi government has officially given the film tax-free status as a gesture of respect for these valiant soldiers.
Farhan Akhtar stars as Major Shaitan Singh, depicting a crucial moment in military history where 120 Indian soldiers courageously faced off against more than 2,000 Chinese troops in an epic confrontation at Rezang La. The film has received commendations from various political figures, including former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who labeled it as a “good film with a good message.” In response, Akhtar expressed gratitude for Yadav’s acknowledgment and support for the film and its team.
While “120 Bahadur” has garnered critical acclaim, its box office performance has been modest, earning approximately ₹15 crore in its opening week. Directed by Razneesh Ghai and produced by Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment, the film also features notable actors Raashii Khanna, Vivan Bhatena, and Ankit Siwach. Despite its financial performance, the film’s message and tribute to military courage resonate well with audiences and critics alike.
