The box office success of the film “Dhurandhar” continues to make headlines, with its recent performance highlighting both its achievements and the natural decline of a long-running film. Released on December 5, the spy thriller directed by Aditya Dhar has captivated audiences and shattered box office records, becoming the highest-grossing film of 2025.
Recent reports indicate a modest drop in the film’s earnings. According to Sacnilk, “Dhurandhar” collected approximately ₹3.44 crore on its 31st day, raising its total earnings to around ₹775.69 crore. This is the lowest daily figure recorded since its release, a predictable outcome as the film has now entered its fifth week and faces the typical Monday slump.
The movie experienced a remarkable trajectory at the box office. In its opening week, “Dhurandhar” garnered ₹207.25 crore, followed by a stellar second week with ₹253.25 crore. Its performance remained robust in week three with ₹172 crore, and it continued to show resilience during the fourth week, collecting ₹106.5 crore. Impressively, the film crossed the ₹1000 crore mark globally just 21 days after its premiere.
The film has not only found commercial success but has also received critical acclaim from industry figures and fans alike. Notably, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma praised “Dhurandhar,” describing it as a “quantum leap” for Indian cinema in his review. He commended director Aditya Dhar for creating an innovative experience that engages not only the characters’ emotions but also resonates deeply with the audience.
“Dhurandhar” is centered around an Indian spy tasked with infiltrating a Baloch gang in Pakistan’s Lyari. Ranveer Singh stars as the lead character, Hamza Ali Mazari, alongside Akshaye Khanna, who portrays Rehman Dakait, the gang’s leader. The film’s ensemble cast also includes Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi. Following its success, a sequel titled “Dhurandhar 2” is scheduled for release on March 19, 2026.
As the film continues to draw attention, its remarkable achievement at the box office reaffirms the potential for compelling storytelling within the Indian film industry. The combination of a strong narrative, skilled direction, and commendable performances has made “Dhurandhar” a memorable entry in contemporary cinema.
