Dubai: Child Lost for an Hour Reunited with Family

An adventurous 6-year-old with determination was joyfully reunited with his family just one hour after wandering off from their home in Dubai. Both parents had mistakenly assumed he was with the other.

The General Department of Operations at Dubai Police received an alert regarding a lost child at Naif Market. Officers swiftly arrived and found the boy in tears and extremely upset.

Police officers took him to the station, where the Victim Support Section provided assistance and comfort while attempts were made to contact his family.

Brigadier Omar Moussa Ashour, Acting Director of Naif Police Station, stated that the child’s father was located within an hour. The father explained that he worked in a shop located in the same building as their residence. The child had left home intending to accompany his mother to his father’s workplace but had accidentally walked into the street, thinking he was still with his parents.

Upon being reunited, the father committed to ensuring that similar incidents do not happen again. He stressed the necessity of closely monitoring the child’s movements to ensure safety and prevent harm.

Authorities have urged parents to be vigilant about their children and refrain from leaving them unsupervised. They underscored the family’s role in maintaining a child’s safety and encouraged parents to educate their children on how to react if they become lost, including approaching police or security staff in busy or public areas.

A similar situation occurred earlier this year when a seven-year-old boy who strayed in Ajman was reunited with his parents within an hour after being discovered alone on a busy road. An observant individual noticed the boy without any guardians in the Manama area and took him to the police station, illustrating the crucial role of community engagement in ensuring children’s safety.
