Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has partnered with Al Noor Association for the Care and Rehabilitation of People of Determination to support an initiative aimed at providing eye fingerprint devices. This effort will facilitate communication for students with mobility and hearing disabilities.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, stated that the organization is dedicated to improving access to information for individuals with disabilities by leveraging the latest technologies and global best practices. DEWA aims to help them connect with their physical environment and express their thoughts and opinions, while ensuring that they have equal opportunities and experiences like everyone else. The authority is pleased to support educational entities that create inclusive and empowering learning environments for all students.
In line with the “Year of Community” and the Dubai Social Agenda 33, the initiative seeks to enhance the independence and quality of life for individuals with disabilities and ensure their active participation in the development and prosperity of the community.
Al Tayer added that DEWA has implemented and sponsored a total of 107 programs and initiatives aimed at the integration and empowerment of individuals with disabilities from 2015 to 2024, including 12 initiatives planned for 2024 alone.
Khaled Al Halyan, Chairman of Al Noor Association, expressed the organization’s commitment to providing students with the latest assistive technologies, which play a crucial role in their development and adaptation to rapid advancements. He emphasized that, in collaboration with DEWA, the latest eye fingerprint technology has been made available to students, facilitating effective communication that enables them to express their views and utilize their potential. The students have previously used this technology in various designs applied to products such as fashion design, mug printing, and wooden items.
