Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has successfully finalized three traffic enhancement initiatives in the Business Bay region, which are designed to improve traffic circulation and ensure road safety in this multifaceted area.

The initiatives are part of a larger strategy to upgrade the emirate’s road network infrastructure and increase effectiveness to cater to growth in population and urban development.

The recent upgrades are anticipated to facilitate smoother traffic conditions, bolster safety measures, and shorten travel durations.

The traffic upgrades in Business Bay encompass…

… converting a street parallel to Sheikh Zayed Road from a two-lane, two-way design to a one-way dual carriageway.

This modification is expected to minimize traffic conflict points and augment the street’s capacity by 100 percent.

Furthermore, a 100-meter-long storage lane was added at the junction of Al Mustaqbal Street and Al Khaleej Al Tejari 1 Street.

This improvement aims to enhance right-turn capacity towards First Al Khail Street by approximately 50 percent, with the goal of reducing congestion and wait times at this junction.

Additional enhancements included the revamping of the service road adjacent to Al Mustaqbal Street near the towers, incorporating an added lane.

This adjustment is projected to boost road capacity by about 50 percent and alleviate traffic complications.

The RTA also upgraded the access to the bridge on Al Mustaqbal Street over the canal, increasing it from one lane to two in the direction of First Al Khail Street.

This change effectively doubles the capacity of the entry point, with the intention of relieving traffic strain during peak times and enhancing vehicle movement along the corridor.
