Air India and Indigo are set to operate special flights on April 23 in response to a terrorist incident in Kashmir.
On Tuesday afternoon, assailants opened fire on tourists in Kashmir, resulting in 26 fatalities and injuring several others. This tragic event occurred in Pahalgam and has prompted widespread condemnation, including strong remarks from the UAE against such violent acts.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi truncated his visit to Saudi Arabia, returning to India early Wednesday to convene a meeting with senior security officials. In the wake of one of the most devastating attacks in the region recently, authorities have launched a search for the perpetrators.
Travelers who secured bookings prior to April 22 will be eligible for extended waivers, allowing travel until April 30, as stated by Indigo Airlines. Two special flights will be operated on April 23: one from Delhi and another from Mumbai to and from Srinagar.
Air India has also confirmed two flights on the same date.
To make travel more affordable, Air India has imposed fare caps on these routes. Any inflated prices seen on booking platforms may be a result of multi-stop itineraries or higher class cabins, the airline explained. Additionally, Air India has announced complimentary rescheduling and full refunds for cancellations for passengers with confirmed bookings until April 30 on these routes. Regular flight schedules to and from Srinagar will proceed as planned.
