Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, has announced that the telecommunications company du has initiated a project worth Dh2 billion in collaboration with Microsoft.
The telecom provider is set to construct a “massive, high-performance data centre,” according to the UAE leader.
This new venture was revealed during ‘AI Week’ in Dubai, with Sheikh Hamdan emphasizing that it will position the “UAE at the forefront of embracing and fostering the latest technologies, innovations, and digital solutions.”
In January, Gulf Data Hub, based in Dubai, declared its commitment to invest $5 billion (about Dh18.365 billion) to reinforce its leading role in collaboration with global private equity firm KKR & Co.
Sheikh Hamdan remarked, “This significant investment, being the first of its kind in the region, will enhance data centre capacity in the UAE and the wider Middle East.
